Young people ages 13 to 16 years old participated in the On-the-Spot Poster-Making and Essay-Writing Contest conducted by the Citizens’ Disaster Response Center last October 13, 2012 at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani.
October 13 was declared by the United Nations as International Day for Disaster Reduction. IDDR is a “day to celebrate how people and communities are reducing their risk to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of DRR”. This year’s theme is: Women & Girls: The [in]Visible Force of Resilience.
As part of CDRC’s commitment to help raise the awareness of young people on DRR, a forum on biodiversity and disasters, followed by a painting and writing contest, was organized last Oct. 13.
