Samar, one of the typhoon-prone provinces in Luzon, is one of the project sites for the German-funded, “Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation for Typhoon-Prone Philippine Regions”. CDRC and the Leyte Center for Development (LCDE), with the support of Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe and the German Humanitarian Aid, are currently implementing the Phase 2 of the project with disaster preparedness training, formation of disaster preparedness committee (DPC), tree planting, and seed dispersal activities. The representative from the funding agency, Mr. Tommy Bouchiba, visited the project area from Nov 28-30, 2009 to meet the DPC members and get their feedback about the project.
