Overall Situation

Strong winds and rains continue to impact majority of the region

CorDisRDS staff and partner peoples’ organizations continue to conduct monitoring but difficulty is experienced due to the prevailing weather conditions. Partners and staff are also currently coordination with the local government units in the different provinces.

Total blackout is experienced in all of the provinces.

There numerous landslides along the national highways and provincial roads. Isolation of upland and far-flung communities is anticipated

According to the DSWD, there are a total of 12,555 evacuees in the entire region.

Provincial Situation

KALINGA

Strong winds and rains continue to affect the province. Red rainfall alert is still raised.

The province has been experiencing total blackout since 5:00PM of September 14, 2018. Communication lines in the provincial centers are functional but there is difficulty contacting upland communities.

Road Status

Numerous provincial roads are not passable due to landslides, road collapse or damage to bridges. Road clearing operations have begun in some portions.

Evacuees

There are 1,500 families or 5,532 individuals in the different evacuation centers while there are 170 families or 899 individuals outside evacuation centers.

Agriculture

There is widespread damage to agriculture as the typhoon hit in the middle of rice and corn planting season. High-value crops such as semi-temperate vegetables were also damaged in the upland municipalities

ABRA

The winds and rain have slightly weakened and clearing operations and repairs have begun.

The province has been experiencing total blackout since 2:00 AM of September 15, 2018. Communication lines in the provincial centers are functional but there is difficulty contacting upland communities.

Evacuees

There are a total of 1,124 individuals from the municipalities of Bucay, Bangued, Lagayan, Salapadan, Luba, San Juan, Villaviciosa and Licuan-Baay who evacuated to the different evacuation center. The mains cause of evacuation is swelling of the Abra river and its’ tributaries.

Road Status

The Abra-Ilocos Norte road is closed to traffic due to road collapse and damage to slope protection.

Agriculture

There is widespread damage to rice in the lowland areas of the province. The are no estimates to the total land area and value of damages.

MOUNTAIN PROVINCE

Strong winds and rains continue to affect the province. Red rainfall alert is still raised.

The province has been experiencing total blackout since September 14, 2018. Communication lines in the provincial centers are functional but there is difficulty contacting faer-flung communities.

Road Status

Numerous provincial roads are not passable or intermittently passable due to landslides, road collapse or damage to bridges.

 Evacuees

The municipalities of Bauko, Besao, Barlig, and Tadian conducted preemptive evacuation.

The level of Chico River has risen steadily and is almost the same height as the Samoki Bridge. Families living near the bridge are expected to evacuate later today.

 Agriculture

IFUGAO

Strong winds and rains continue to affect the province. Red rainfall alert is still raised.

CorDisRDS staff are currently conducting monitoring activities.

There is landslide incident in the Municipality of Asipulo that cuased the Antipolo road to close.

BENGUET

Strong winds and rains continue to affect the province. Red rainfall alert is still raised.

A landslide incident with a volume of 250 cu. m caused the closure of the Barangay Polacion road.

A landslide with a volume of 500 cu. m caused the closure of Barangay Ucab road.

Road Status

The Bagtangan-Gambang-Bakun road is not passable due to road slip. The far-flung communities of Bakun may be isolated if clearing operations are not completed imeediatley.

Evacuees

There are evacuees reported in the municipalities of La Trinindad, Itogon, Bokod, Kabayan, Bakun and Baguio City

Agriculture

There is widespread damage to agriculture. The main crops affected are semi-temperate vegetables. Some farmers harvested their prematurely to minimize losses.

APAYAO (Municipality of Conner)

Strong winds and rains continue to affect the province. Red rainfall alert is still raised.

The Municipality of Conner has been experiencing total blackout since September 14, 2018. Communication lines are also down so there is difficulty in contacting staff who are conducting monitoring.

There are reported evacuees in Barangays Ili and Malam. So far the number of evacuees is 70 families or 315 individuals. More evacuees are expected to be added as information comes in.
